Why Churnet Valley?

Our Valley Range is made from FSC-certified Scandinavian Redwood and is supplied with a factory-applied oil-based Golden Oak timber treatment. This oil treatment provides initial surface protection and colour only; it is not a permanent coating and does not fully protect the timber from rain, moisture, mould, mildew, algae, UV exposure, discolouration, natural movement or general weathering. From the point of delivery, routine inspection, cleaning, drying and ongoing re-treatment with a suitable compatible exterior timber oil or preservative are the customer's responsibility. Re-treatment should normally be carried out at least annually, and more frequently in persistently wet, shaded or exposed locations. Natural weathering or surface mould, mildew, algae or discolouration developing after delivery as a result of environmental exposure or insufficient maintenance is not, by itself, a manufacturing defect. This does not affect your statutory rights where the goods were defective, misdescribed or otherwise failed to meet applicable consumer law when supplied.

All of our products are handmade. Since they are made from natural wood, you might see some small cracks or splits. This happens because wood can lose moisture in warm, dry weather or when exposed to strong sunlight. In cooler, wetter weather, the wood takes in moisture again, which can help reduce these cracks. These natural changes don't affect the quality of our products. We do our best to smooth out splinters and rough edges, but we might not catch every single one.
