Understanding & caring for natural timber

Pressure treatment protects timber against rot, fungal decay and insect attack but does not make the building waterproof. Once the timber is sufficiently dry, apply a suitable exterior wood paint, stain or water-repellent treatment and maintain it periodically.

Optional Building Upgrades

For additional protection and longevity, we can offer a choice of upgrades for your garden building. Please email sales@cvgf.co.uk for a price on any of the following extras.

EPDM Rubber Roof

Upgrade your standard roofing felt to an EPDM rubber roof for a longer-lasting, low-maintenance roofing solution.

  • Life expectancy of up to 30 years
  • Excellent waterproofing and weather resistance
  • Highly durable and resistant to cracking and splitting
  • Flexible enough to accommodate natural movement in the timber
  • Low maintenance
  • Provides a smart, professional finish
  • An excellent long-term alternative to traditional roofing felt

Breathable Membrane

A breathable membrane can be fitted behind the external timber cladding to provide an additional layer of protection against wind-driven rain and moisture.

  • Provides an additional weather-resistant barrier behind the cladding
  • Helps protect the inside of the building from moisture penetration
  • Helps protect against water entering through natural gaps or movement in the timber cladding
  • Allows water vapour to escape, helping the timber structure to breathe
  • Particularly recommended where the contents of the building need additional protection from the elements

Want to upgrade your building?
Email sales@cvgf.co.uk for a price on an EPDM rubber roof, breathable membrane, or both upgrades

Delivery & assembly

Delivery is calculated from your postcode at checkout. Assembly is not included as standard; where installation is available it can be arranged separately. The building must be positioned on a firm, level and suitable base.

Natural timber

The timber is pressure treated to help protect against rot and decay. Knots, colour variation, small splits, checks and minor movement can occur as the timber seasons outdoors and are normal characteristics of the material.

Why Churnet Valley?

Our furniture is eco-friendly because we only use wood from Scandinavian forests that are managed responsibly by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). This means that when trees are cut down, more are planted in their place. We also take the extra step of having our wood pressure-treated to protect it against weather for many years. Most garden furniture today is made to last only three or four years, but our products are built to last almost four times longer, which helps protect the planet's natural resources.

All of our products are handmade. Since they are made from natural wood, you might see some small cracks or splits. This happens because wood can lose moisture in warm, dry weather or when exposed to strong sunlight. In cooler, wetter weather, the wood takes in moisture again, which can help reduce these cracks. These natural changes don't affect the quality of our products. We do our best to smooth out splinters and rough edges, but we might not catch every single one.
